GSIS Continue to Help More Scholars

GSIS Continue to Help More Scholars — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is sending 579 students to school under its annual GSIS Scholarship Program (GSP). To date, it has helped more than 900 college students, according to the GSIS Training and Scholarhip Department (TSD).

Under the program, scholars enjoy free tuition and miscellaneous fees up to P20,000 per semester and a monthly stipend of P2,000. The program is open to all GSIS active members of good standing (with updated premium payments). To join, members just need to fill up an application form available in all GSIS offices nationwide or from the GSIS website (www.gsis.gov.ph).

Winning members who are drawn through the raffle get to select any incoming college freshman or current college student of their choice to be the beneficiary of the said scholarship. GSIS scholars may enroll in any four-year or five-year course at any school of their choice. Records show that majority of the scholars have pursued engineering, accountancy, and nursing courses.

The GSIS has also partnered with STI in giving partial free scholarship and grants to qualified relatives of GSIS members and pensioners. Around 189 scholars are under this program.
